
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An overnight collision between a car and a semi on the Southwest Side has left four women critically injured.
The accident occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of 79th and Pulaski. According to police, a car traveling north on Pulaski, driving at a high-rate of speed, ran a red light and hit a semi-truck in the intersection.
The female driver of the car along with three female passengers needed to be rescued, the Fire Department said. Following a lengthy extrication, all four women were transported to area hospitals in critical condition. Three of them were sent to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The fourth went to Mt. Sinai Hospital.
The driver of the semi refused medical attention.
Police have yet to issue any citations. Area One detectives are investigating.
