
An already busy summer travel season is getting even busier.
Chicago’s airports are preparing to see 1.86 million people fly through from Wednesday through Monday.
While things at Midway are expected to be on par with last year, 4th of July crowds at O’Hare are projected to be 11% bigger than the 2024 holiday and 9% larger than before the pandemic.
The early Wednesday morning rush saw long lines for TSA in Terminal 2.
Chicago Aviation Department Spokeswoman Georgiaree Godfrey says this follows a record number of passengers going through TSA security at O’Hare over the Juneteenth holiday.
The busiest day this holiday at O’Hare is projected to be Sunday, when more than 300,000 people are expected to come through.
