CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Eight people have been arrested, after police in Oak Lawn responded to gunfire outside a hotel in the southwest suburb shortly after midnight Tuesday morning.

Oak Lawn Police Chief Daniel Vittorio said it started in the lobby of the Oak Lawn Hilton near 94th and Cicero where, he said, two groups got into an argument, went outside, and then there were reports of shots fired.

"We happened to have other units in the area on a different type of call for service from police. They responded immediately. When they arrived, they were able to detain several vehicles that were trying to leave the lot," Vittorio said.

Vittorio said five men and three women were arrested, all of whom were from outside of Oak Lawn.

He said no one was injured in the incident.

Chief Vittorio said the investigation continues into what led to the argument and the gunfire.
