Crew alleged to have committed 9 armed robberies in 1 hour on Near NW Side: CPD

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago police have issued a community alert about a series of hold-ups that happened during a one-hour period this past weekend.

Police believe the same group of four young men was behind at least nine armed robberies early Sunday morning between 12:30 and 1:30 a.m. They happened on the Near Northwest Side, in the Ukrainian Village, Logan Square, Avondale, Bucktown and Palmer Square neighborhoods.

Chicago police said the suspects would jump out of a vehicle. point guns at victims and then take their property. That included cellphones and laptops, wallets and cash.

One victim was hit in the head with a handgun.

Police said the suspects appeared to be 15 to 21-years-old and wore dark hoodies and black masks.
