Just in time for back to school, there’s a new survey out about speeding and why many drivers think it’s ok to do.

AAA found many explain their behavior because they want to get around slower drivers, don’t want to be the slower driver or think no one actually drives the speed limit.

Spokeswoman Molly Hart says drivers in only four other states have lower support than Illinois for things like speed bumps, cameras and police enforcement in their neighborhoods.

That support rebounds for the same measures further away from home, in places known for crashes and higher risks.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates almost 30% of car crash deaths were due to speeding in 2023.
