(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Evanston police and fire officials closed all of the city's beaches Monday afternoon after a swimmer apparently disappeared in the water.

It happened off Greenwood Beach, located in the 1100 block of Lake Shore Boulevard in the north suburb.


Marine units, rescue divers and a Chicago police helicopter were seen searching the waters.

Evanston fire officials said there is a heavy fire and police presence at Lee Street Beach, Dempster Street Beach, and Church Street Beach.
