
LAKE IN THE HILLS (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A man pleaded guilty Wednesday to a hate crime related to vandalism at McHenry County bakery.
25-year-old Joseph Collins of Alsip was accused of breaking the windows of UpRising Bakery and Cafe in Lake in the Hills on July 22, 2022.
He was also accused of spray painting anti-gay slurs on building. The bakery had planned to host a drag show the next day.
Collins is required to serve 24 months of felony probation, complete 200 hours of public service, and pay $6,000 in fines and property damages.
The hate crime charge has a possible prison sentence of one to three years.
