CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — As COVID-19 infection rates increase in Illinois and much of the country, a Chicago-based supplier of personal protective equipment worries that some PPE will be in short supply.

Leo Friedman runs iPromo in the West Loop and said PPE could soon cost much more, including one thing in particular: protective gloves.

Friedman says there's already a shortage of them. Also getting scarce, he said, are alcohol swabs. The situation is likely to get worse if COVID-19 infection rates continue to rise.

He said the glove shortage is a particular problem, because there will be no additional capacity to produce them until at least early next year.
