CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — An arrest has been made in connection with a series of fires that had been set to Halloween decorations in Chicago's Roscoe Village and North Center neighborhoods.

Chicago police put out a community alert last week for someone who had been setting fire to Halloween decorations and garbage cans on the North Side.

One of the fires in question took place near West Roscoe and North Leavitt Streets, where a Halloween decoration was lit on fire on Oct. 11. The next day, a fire caused property damage outside of a building near North Maplewood and North Belle Plaine Avenues.

On Wednesday, 34-year old Mario Munoz was arrested and charged in connection with two of the incidents.

He's charged with one count of felony arson of personal property and a misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property.

Chicago police have reported at least eight fires, but it's unclear whether Munoz is a suspect in any of the fires other than the ones for which he's been charged.
