CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Three people were wounded in a shootout Monday night on the West Side during what Chicago police believe was an attempted robbery.
Police have a 16-year-old boy in custody after they said he was shot in the leg while trying to rob two men. It happened near Roosevelt and Independence at about 10 p.m. Monday night. There’s a liquor store and a gas station at that location.
A 34-year-old man was shot in the neck and a 50-year-old man was hit in the wrist. Both went to the hospital in good condition, as did the suspected robber.
Police believe there was at least one other male involved in the shootout, but they say he drove off. Officers found a weapon and about a dozen shell casings.
