(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Some locked doors on Aurora’s City Hall led aldermen to vote to ratify city council business at a meeting last week.

It was a situation not covered in Open Meetings Act legal opinions - what to do when doors are inadvertently locked. The Aurora Beacon News reports Facilities Management concluded Aurora City Hall doors automatically locked at 6:30 p.m. on July 11 leaving some people waiting outside unnoticed until the city council meeting was over.

That’s not to say no one from the public was there. Some members and at least one reporter came for the rescheduled Committee of the Whole meeting and stayed, according to the Beacon News. Based on advice from the state’s Public Access Counselor, the council voted last week unanimously to ratify work conducted during the partially closed meeting.
