(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The owner of an Oak Lawn bar linked to a deadly crash over the weekend has agreed to close the business for good, village officials announced Friday.
Oak Lawn officials said they had reached a tentative agreement with the owner of Gaslight Bar & Grill, also known as On the Rocks, 5130 95th St.
“Under this agreement, the establishment will voluntarily close its doors and not seek to reopen in Oak Lawn. In exchange, the Village will impose no fines against the bar for liquor license violations,” the village government said in a news release.
Mayor Terry Vorderer, who doubles as the liquor commissioner, has said complaints against the bar have included fighting, noise, an incident involving a gun, public drinking, public cannabis and parking violations.
He suspended the bar’s liquor license ahead of a hearing scheduled for next week.
A fatal crash early last Sunday involved two patrons of the bar. They allegedly were speeding on Cicero Avenue and caused a crash that killed a 66-year-old woman and left her son with life-threatening injuries.
Both were charged with reckless homicide.
