OAK LAWN (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The village of Oak Lawn has suspended the liquor license of a bar that opened last month and, according to the village, has been the source of numerous complaints.
Mayor Terry Vorderer said complaints against the “The Gaslight Bar & Grill,” also known as “On the Rocks” on 95th Street, include fighting, noise, littering, an incident involving a gun, public drinking, public cannabis use, damage to vehicles, parking violations, vehicles blocking residential driveways and health code violations, among others.
The owner was put on notice and a hearing was scheduled for next week. The mayor decided to suspend the license ahead of the hearing following a fatal crash early last Sunday involving two patrons of the bar.
He said they were “speeding and driving recklessly” on Cicero Avenue and caused a crash that killed a 66-year-old woman and left her son with life-threatening injuries.
Both were charged with reckless homicide.
