(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Students at Bartlett High School will end the year under different leadership, after their principal was abruptly replaced on Friday.
Principal Mike Demovsky was put on leave after District U-46 said it learned of concerns over his administrative practices. District Supt. Suzanne Johnson said that discovery triggered an investigation, in which the district is cooperating — but Johnson didn’t specify who is conducting it.
Demovsky’s removal was not related to the safety of students or staff, the district said.
It has named former South Elgin High School principal and assistant superintendent Melanie Meidel as interim principal.
The Board of Education will gather Monday night for its regular month meeting.
Demovsky taught at Bartlett for eight years and in 2016 returned to the school as principal, where he makes $154,000 per year.
