Before the Halloween costumes come out, beware of a spooky new scam called ghost tapping.

Jordan Wright with the Better Business Bureau’s Tip-Off to the Rip-Off® on WBBM Newsradio has all the details.

Contactless payments make buying fast and easy – but scammers are catching on.

We’ve gone from swiping, to inserting, to tapping – and now, some fraudsters are using wireless devices to “ghost tap” your card without you even knowing.

In crowded places, they may brush past you and trigger a transaction. Other pose as vendors or charity workers, asking for a quick tap – and then charge for more than you agreed to.

Always verify payment details and monitor your accounts regularly.

Use RFID-blocking sleeves and set up transaction alerts with your bank or credit card provider.
