Before you pack your sunscreen, make sure you’re not getting burned by a scam. Jay Elliott with the Better Business Bureau’s Tip-Off to the Rip-Off® on WBBM Newsradio has the details.

As students and families hunt for affordable spring break travel deals, scammers are also on the prowl promoting fake vacations that look like a steal – until you realize your money is gone and the trip never existed.

Be cautious of pop-up ads, fake websites, emails, and text messages promoting unbelievable prices or last-minute deals to popular destinations, because the real destination for your money is in a scammer’s pocket, along with your personal information.

For a scam-free spring break, avoid high-pressure sales tactics and take your time researching travel companies and rental properties before sending any payment.
