Back in September, lunch at a North Side hot dog stand came courtesy of Bears quarterback Caleb Williams…and Tuesday, free franks were given away, thanks to the red-hot team’s head coach.
The Wiener’s Circle promised free hot dogs if Ben Johnson took his shirt off after a win…and, well, here we are.
“I couldn’t believe it.”
And fans lined, and bundled, up along Clark Street hoping to snag a free frank.
“I live right around the corner. We’re used to this. It’s bear weather.”
“20 degrees, free hot dogs? Can’t keep me away.”
Braden was among those here for the first giveaway in September, after Caleb Williams tossed four touchdowns in a win over Dallas, and he says the temperatures aren’t the only thing different this time around.
“At the time, I think a lot of people were thinking it was just the same old Bears. Now, the vibe has completely changed.”
As has the message for Ben Johnson, referred to by Mitch as a man of the people.
“Keep doing what you’re doing, man.
You’re serving the community, you’re making us all really happy. Just keep winning. Bear down.”
