President Biden is backing a longtime West Side congressman.
Just days before Tuesday's primary election, President Biden endorsed the Democratic primary bid of Rep. Danny Davis.
Davis is being challenged by community activist Kina Collins in the U.S. Congressional 7th District.
Collins, who founded the Chicago Neighborhood Alliance and has worked under Chicago City Clerk Anna Valencia on issues concerning women and girls in Chicago, is a Chicago Public Schools graduate and began organizing after the Laquan McDonald shooting.
The president noted Davis' work on the development of federally qualified health centers in the district, calling Davis "an essential partner."
Biden went on to say in a statement released by the Davis campaign: "The longtime congressman is an effective leader and lawmaker who is deeply rooted in his community."
