Body of 18-year-old man pulled from Lake Michigan identified

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Officials believe they have recovered the body of the swimmer who failed to resurface in Lake Michigan in Winnetka earlier this week.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified him as 18-year old Ebrahim Akhoun.

Winnetka first responders were sent to the area of Elder Lane Beach early Tuesday on reports that three men had entered the water, but one of them never resurfaced.

Efforts to search for him that day were hampered by high waves.

Winnetka officials say they are “reasonably confident” the body recovered from the lake Thursday afternoon is that of the missing swimmer.
