Relatives say the body of missing UIC student Daniel Sotelo, who disappeared almost one month ago, was pulled out of Lake Michigan on Saturday.
"Although the circumstances are devastating, our hearts are at peace knowing that we found him," Jennifer Sotelo wrote to a facebook group dedicated to searching for Daniel.
The Cook County medical examiner's office said the 26 year old was found in Lake Michigan in Wilmette one week ago, but a cause of death has not yet been determined.
In her post on the "Find Daniel Sotelo" Facebook group, Jennifer Sotelo added: "His kindness was reflected in his eyes, and his generosity was conveyed in the way he took care of others. His smile had the ability to warm the heart of anyone that came across it."
Daniel Sotelo had been missing since April 30, the same day his girlfriend, 22-year-old Natally Brookson disappeared. Her body was found in the lake May 2 in Edgewater.
Sotelo was set to graduate from UIC with a master's degree this month.
