Growing up in the suburbs, polishing her style and fashion cred in the Los Angeles and Washington D.C. markets then pivoting from her personal styling business, Catherine Cassidy returned to Chicago and started Boutique Box.
She found less conservative, professional dress and attire for women the trend along with an environment a little more tailored to the professional woman, especially after the pandemic.
“There is more opportunity. There’s more creative jobs. There’s more women saying, ‘This is who I am and how I want to show up.’ That’s the why for Boutique Box…How do we help women show up as their full selves and get to that next level in their career authentically?” Cassidy says.
What do you find in a membership-based Boutique Box?
“The essence is who are you and how do you want to show up? What are the needs that you have for your lifestyle?” Cassidy asks.
Boutique Box provides virtual access to a style expert and the solution to a problem.
“What women care about is looking and feeling good,” Cassidy says.
It's neither clothes nor fashion, but an investment in style, with the goal of getting out the door in five minutes each morning and doing away with the dreaded time consuming chore of shopping from boutique to boutique.
“If you love shopping, by all means…Style is learned, so get into your closet and play, go into the stores and play, but, if you don’t, you’re in the majority,” Cassidy argues.
Boutique Box works with members to build a stylish wardrobe with clothes already in the closet along with taking exact measurements, listening to individual needs and providing uniquely procured quality pieces that Cassidy and her team find for them, many times from independent brands.
“What we’re aiming to do is get people to buy the right pieces, and they also know that they’re supporting brands that are building and creating with intention…They know they are buying small businesses, female founders, it’s building a new ecosystem as well,” Cassidy says.
Cassidy says that Boutique Box empowers women with the confidence to take that next step in their style game, while giving them the extra time to focus on being a boss.
“As a woman’s body changes, what works for her body changes,” says Cassidy. “The fits, the styles, the fabrics, all of that changes, so it’s continual relearning of what is going to work for you.
“Our bodies are so diverse. Women are unique snowflakes, and it’s fascinating for me to see that, with your measurements, we actually can connect those dots for you really efficiently…It is about what works for my body type, what do I like and why, how do I find these pieces, and we do that for you,” Cassidy says.

“It is really fun to see that it works, the consistent feedback of, ‘I don’t know how you do this, but this fits perfectly. I hated taking my measurements, but now everything fits like a glove,” Cassidy smiles.
