HINSDALE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The family of a teen who died Thursday after a crash at sub shop in Hinsdale is speaking out.

14-year-old Sean Patrick Richards had been hospitalized since Monday after a Jeep crashed into Fontano's sub shop on South Lincoln Street.

Police said first responders arrived just after 2:35 p.m. after the Jeep drove all the way into the store. According to the store's owner, the teen ended up on the hood of the jeep before falling under the vehicle.

His family said in a statement they are "devastated" and will have "a large whole in our hearts."

"Sean was a gentle soul who was always both humble and kind. Full of joy, he was the most loving child and was a friend to everyone he met," parents Kristine and Brian Richards wrote in their statement.

"Please continue to pray for Sean’s soul and for his loving family as we grieve this tremendous loss.”

Four others were injured in the crash as well.
