CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A preschool age boy was badly injured Sunday last night in a fire that appears to have been deliberately set.
The fire was in a home on 61st and Carpenter in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
Police said around 11:30 p.m. someone threw an explosive device into the back of the home, starting the fire. Police said a man and four children were able to safely get out of the building. But, a fifth child remained.
Chicago firefighters went into that burning home and rescued a 4-year-old boy. He was last reported in critical condition at Comer Children’s Hospital.
