CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Several people were taken into custody on Sunday after a SWAT team responded to an incident on the Southeast Side.
Chicago police said it happened shortly after 1:15 p.m., when a 31-year-old man was approached by at least one unknown offender on East 71st Street near South Clyde Avenue.
The offender pulled out a gun, opened fire and struck the 31-year-old man in the shoulder.
The victim was taken to University of Chicago Hospital in good condition.
Chicago police officers heard the shots, and officials said they saw at least one offender run into a nearby building.
A SWAT team responded to the area, and three people were detained shortly after and taken in for questioning.
The shooting remains under investigation.
