(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Three people now charged with numerous crimes allegedly stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from video gaming machines across the state, the Illinois Attorney General’s Office said Thursday.

Officials said the crimes occurred in 21 counties, with the three suspects — Gino W. Wuttke of Chatsworth; his mother, Guilia R. Wuttke; and Alyssa A. Slouka of Glen Ellyn — part of a crime ring that burglarized businesses with gaming machines over seven months last year.

“Members of this burglary ring allegedly targeted bars, restaurants, social clubs and other small businesses that have video poker and video gaming machines. They broke into dozens of these establishments in multiple counties and stole hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash out of the machines,” Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul said in a news release.

Participants allegedly stole an estimated $400,000. An indictment alleges they laundered the proceeds by transferring money to each other electronically.

Gino Wuttke is charged with 41 counts of burglary for alleged break-ins at 41 businesses, theft and money-laundering. His bond was set at $750,000, and his next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 8.

The trio is being prosecuted in Lee County.
