Trash talking for a good cause.
A Chicago nonprofit is teaming up with environmentalists in Philadelphia and Los Angeles for a friendly competition dubbed "The Clean Off" challenging residents to see which city can pick up the most litter in October.
Katherine Tellock, executive director and co-founder of Cleanup Club Chicago, says last year's showdown between Chicago and Philly resulted in nearly seven tons of trash collected from city streets. This year, the group invited LA to take part in a three-way competition.
The Chicago nonprofit is organizing group events to clean up city street. Participants are also welcome to collect trash solo. Individuals collecting the most trash will also have a chance to win prizes.
You can find the rules and sign-up information at CleanUpClubChicago.org
All trash must be picked up within the city limits and participants must submit a photo showing their full bags of trash for the cleanup to be counted.
