CAROL STREAM, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police in Carol Stream shot and killed a man Saturday morning while responding to a domestic violence incident.
The incident happened at the Villagebrook Apartments on the 200 block of East St. Charles Road at 4:15 a.m., according to Brian Cluever, the Acting Chief of Police.
"Officers encountered a tense, uncertain, and rapidly evolving situation, which resulted in officers discharging their weapons at the alleged domestic violence suspect," he said.
The suspect was then struck and sustained critical injuries. He was transported to Central DuPage Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Police have identified the man as Isaac Goodlow III, 30, from the Chicagoland area.
No officers were injured in the incident, according to police.
A resident of the apartment complex, who didn’t want to be identified, told WBBM there had been a dispute between the man and woman involved over her belongings and her dog and that she called police and shots were heard soon after police arrived.
The Public Integrity Team of the DuPage Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigative Team Task Force was deployed to investigate this incident.
The Public Integrity Team, which is made up of investigators from other DuPage County agencies and the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, investigates officer-involved shootings and deaths in DuPage County.
Body camera footage is being reviewed as part of the investigation, police said. The footage will be released in coordination with the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office.
