CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Masses taking place Sunday mark the first time in over a year that many Catholic churches in the Chicago area are allowing parishioners to attend without masks.
The line to get into mass may move a little slower as the Chicago Archdiocese directed parishes to ask members if they’ve been vaccinated and in some cases to show proof.
In a statement released on Friday, the Archdiocese said fully-vaccinated people can attend mass without masks but churches should clearly indicate that they should bring proof such as a picture of a vaccination card.
Some parishes may continue to require masks until the state completely reopens and advanced registration is required while indoor capacity has been raised to 60%.
