Chicago Blues legend Jimmy Johnson dies at 93

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago musician Jimmy Johnson, one of the legends of Blues, has died.

Like many in the Home of the Blues, guitarist and singer Jimmy Johnson came to Chicago from the south and earned a place among the legends.

Johnson was a regular in the Chicago Blues clubs and the Blues Festival and played on stages all over the world.

In 2018, at the age of 89, he performed at Blues on Halsted.

Johnson wrote, “My music has taken me all over the world and I’ve had the great pleasure of playing with some of the greatest musicians of all-time.”

A message on his website reads, “Jimmy was an Incredible Man who Lived an Extraordinary Life. Jimmy was Kind, Generous, Funny, Bright, Loving, Clever, and Exceptionally Talented,”

Jimmy Johnson was 93.
