(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — As the world was unraveling last year, a lot of people took comfort in candy.

“Everyone was looking for ways to cheer someone up. And what better way to do it than candy?” said Amy Hansen, owner of Amy’s Candy Bar on Damen, east of Lincoln Square.

Online sales have been good, all through the pandemic.

She opened Amy’s Candy Bar in 2011.

“What we started with were four different types of caramels: Our sea salt caramels, dark chocolate sea salt, raspberry caramel and passionfruit mango caramel.”

Her biggest seller: The OMG Bar.

“We made this bar and it’s so good that every other bar we’ve made doesn’t quite stack up.  Now, they’re all different, and they’re all unique and people definitely have their favorites.”

“What I enjoy,” she said, “for every holiday we come up with seasonal truffles. Developing the new truffle recipes every year is fun for me.”
