(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Before he started grinding spices in a 1,200-foot-square space in West Town, Sean Lemaster worked with them and around them in the restaurant trade.
Using his skills to combine food and flavors, Lemaster had early success with a client. With a $3,000 sale he was on his way.
Sean and his wife, Chelsi, created Lemaster Family Kitchen almost a decade ago. Lemaster says he prepares spices the way a chef would -- by hand and in small batches.
LFK sells online, direct to restaurants as well as at farmers markets. QR codes on a postcard showcase their spice blends in recipes.
“I’m always trying to show people basically how they can get the most versatility out of each thing, while not sending them to the grocery store,” Sean Lemaster said.
He credits the fresh ingredients they use with helping people discover their cooking ability.
“Any time you use our spices the food tastes good.”
