(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Count officials with the Chicago Fire FC among the people who are trying to track all the information about new stadiums for the Chicago Bears and the White Sox.
The Fire plays soccer at Soldier Field, which the Bears hope to vacate in the next few years for nicer digs.
Meantime, the White Sox are pushing an idea to build a publicly assisted ballpark south of the Loop, and the Fire have been suggested as a possible inheritor of Guaranteed Rate Field.
Dave Baldwin, president of business operations for the Fire, said it’s hard to avoid all of the chatter that’s out there.
“It’s tough. At the end of the day, there’s so many rumors that swirl around and so many different narratives that get put out there, in the press and in the media,” Baldwin tells WBBM Newsradio. “You never really know what’s true.”
He adds: “We’re focused right now with the Fire on growing our fan base locally.”
Baldwin said the team loves playing at Soldier Field and has a good relationship with that venue’s landlord, the Chicago Park District.
