A street in Chicago's Beverly neighborhood on the Far Southwest Side now has a very funny name.

92nd and Bell is now "Honorary George Wendt Way."

About a thousand people gathered at that spot on Sunday afternoon for the unveiling of the sign to honor  the late George Wendt, who died in May at the age of 76.

The actor grew up at that spot before going on to be "Norm" on "Cheers."

Former "Saturday Night Live" star Tim Kazurinsky, worked with Wendt at Chicago's "Second City" and told WBBM that George was "the greatest Chicagoan...I loved him so much."

Bishop Larry Sullivan said it was a perfect day telling Wendt's friends, family and neighbors, "this was George's kind of weather...a good, cold rainy kind of day. It's a reminder to us that George was someone (who) even on cold, windy, rainy days he could be a source of sunshine, he could be a source of brightness."
