CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- It's going to be easier for some University of Chicago medical students to pay their tuition.

Starting this fall, the University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Medicine will be offering full-tuition scholarships to up to half of all incoming students.

The new scholarship funds will be granted based on need and a candidate’s potential to succeed in a redesigned curriculum focusing on empowering students to serve as patient advocates and enhance small-group learning and
community engagement.

Roughly 40% of U of C medical students have been supported through full-tuition scholarships or grants, and more than 90% receive partial-tuition support.
