A newsstand that has been selling papers on Chicago's far northwest side since 1943 is closing at the end of the month.
Kaage's Newsstand sits under an honorary street sign for his family at the corner of Northwest Highway and Oliphant in Edison Park.

Owner Mike Kaage wears an apron and change dispenser similar to one he did when he started working at the stand at age 5 back in 1961.

He proudly says the stand that was started by his grandfather has been open every day, seven days a week for 82 years - even during blizzards.
As some of his regular customers pulled up Thursday morning, he quickly handed them their papers and called them by name.
Kaage says business has been dropping for 25 years but saw what he believes was its best day in 2016 after the Cubs won the World Series.
After his wife died back in February, Kaage decided to retire so he could babysit his two grandkids.
The newsstand is slated to close on June 29th.
