CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Some parts of the Chicago area received more than two inches of snow Saturday morning.
Intermittent snow showers are expected the rest of the day as well as flurries Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
A storm is expected Monday night with a brief lull Tuesday morning and then more heavy and wet snow developing at night.
The National Weather Service issued a warning about slick travel conditions advising drivers to prepare for extra travel time and to drive slowly.
As of 3:35 a.m., roadways were mostly covered in snow in locales along and between I-39 and I-57, including the I-55 corridor, where 2-4 inches of snow fell.
The Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation said it began working overnight in response to the snow and that salt spreaders are focusing on snow/ice on arterial routes to ensure safety for drivers.
