This week, Pope Leo the 14th appointed Cardinal Blase Cupich to the pontifical commission for the Vatican City State.

This has happened in light of Cupich's controversial and criticized decision last month to give an award to Senator Dick Durbin, who is pro-abortion.

The SUN-TIMES reports Cupich's new post is not hugely influential, but the appointment shows Pope Leo's support for Cupich.
