More charges have been filed against 33-year-old Adam Hollingsworth — the Chicago man known as the “Dreadhead Cowboy” — after his horseback ride on the rush-hour Dan Ryan Expressway on Monday.

Hours after Hollingsworth was arrested near on the South Side, Illinois State Police said he was charged with reckless conduct, disobeying a police officer and criminal trespass to state property.

Now, Illinois authorities have added charges of obstruction of traffic on a controlled access highway.

State Police say a 55-year-old man who showed up on the scene tried to take control of Hollingsworth’s horse and wouldn’t let go of the animal.  Darron Luster is charged with obstructing and resisting arrest and was released on bond.

The horse was taken to Chicago Animal Care and Control and is now with an animal rescue facility.

State Police say when Hollingsworth was arrested, the horse was bleeding from the left hoof. The right hoof was injured, and the right side of the horse’s body had sores from the saddle, authorities said.

Previously, Hollingsworth, a horse and riding enthusiast, drew double-takes in Chicago as he rode his horse on city streets, which is legal. Earlier this year, Mayor Lightfoot enlisted him to help get the word out about the U.S. Census.

Lightfoot called his Monday ride dangerous and irresponsible. Hollingsworth said he was trying to draw attention to violence against young people.
