CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Chicago Police Department says it’s staffing up and watching social media for any signs of the kind of violence last weekend that saw two teens shot in the Loop.

The police department encourages parents to stay with their teens or keep them with a responsible adult after what it calls “reckless, disruptive and violent behavior” downtown last weekend.

In a statement, the CPD said anyone breaking the law will be arrested and held accountable. The city announced bag checks at the beach and a curfew at Millennium Park in the days after police arrested 15 people and videos circulated online of teens fighting in the street and some attacking people and cars.

The CPD said it will collaborate to provide safe alternatives for young people.
