(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — After a busy weekend in Chicago, the CTA is standing by its face mask requirement.

Social media was flooded with pictures of people crammed onto platforms, with many Lollapalooza attendees not wearing face coverings.

CTA officials on Monday said there has been no change to the agency’s requirement that riders wear masks at transit stations and on vehicles.

Officials did not specify whether they would begin cracking down on scofflaws but noted the CTA continuously reminds commuters of the policy through signage and other means.

The agency's complete statement:

"Like transit agencies across the country, and in keeping with federal and state regulations, CTA has required masks on trains, buses and stations for more than a year. There is no change to that policy—masks are still required for all customers.

CTA continues to educate and remind customers of the mask mandate thorough signage posted on every vehicle and rail station, along with announcements on platforms and vehicles, and messages on digital screens. Free masks are also available on all buses and at all trail stations."
