(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Cook County Clerk’s Office announced that some special services will be delayed following the death of Clerk Karen Yarbrough.
Yarbrough died on April 7 from an undisclosed illness.
As a result, services such as creating and distributing paper copies of birth, death and marriage certificates are temporarily delayed.
A spokesperson said the clerk's office will continue to register birth and death records from funeral homes, hospitals and other institutions through an online portal.
Marriage licenses can still be obtained at the clerk's downtown and suburban offices and on the clerk's website.
