CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The number of Divvy bikes available in Chicago this spring and summer hit the lowest point since its owners began sharing that data.

The amount of Divvy’s fleet available in June was less than 59 percent - the lowest it’s been since the Chicago Department of Transportation started tracking the information.

The Chicago Tribune reported that electric bikes are behind the lower numbers and a rate increase this spring. Lyft, which owns the bikeshare company, also blames supply chain issues-a challenge in hiring that slowed down maintenance and thefts.

CDOT told the Tribune that while Divvy has continued to grow, it’s a concern any time residents struggle to find bikes and the department is working to ensure Lyft provides quality service.
