(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A teenager has been arrested on charges that he robbed a woman outside a Joliet bank on Monday.
Joliet police got some help in catching a robbery suspect. Joliet police say the victim's 23-year-old son chased down David Munoz-Ardila and held him - along with bystanders - until officers arrived.
It was about 9:45 a.m. when police say Munoz-Ardila stole a woman's purse outside the Bank of America near Jefferson and Stryker.
While he was running, police say the 19-year-old from Joliet fired a flare gun. The man was hit in the chest but not injured.
Police returned the purse to the 44-year-old woman and recovered the gun, with another flare inside.
