(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The former lawyer for Drew Peterson has been under a gag order since May 2022, when he threatened to tell the world what happened to Peterson’s fourth wife, Stacy, who disappeared 15 years ago on Oct. 28.
That lawyer has now said that Drew Peterson himself should speak out because “confession is good for the soul.”
“I think I could try to convince him to tell the truth,” Joel Brodsky said. “Man up.”
Brodsky is the former attorney for Peterson, who is in prison for the murder of his third wife and is a suspect in the disappearance of his fourth wife Stacy.
“At this point, take responsibility,” he said. “It’s not going to make your situation worse or better, but it might improve your standing when you’ve got to face the creator.”
Although Brodsky said he wants to convince Peterson to tell what he knows about the fate of Stacy Peterson, he added that he doesn’t think Drew Peterson wants to talk to him
In fact, Peterson’s public defender went to court in May — right after Brodsky told Channel 9 that “maybe it’s time” for him — Brodsky — to reveal details about what happened to Stacy Peterson.
That’s when Brodsky was hit with a gag order.
“Personally, I didn’t think Drew would live this long in jail,” he said.
Brodsky reminded WBBM of what he has said about Stacy’s fate.
“I think I said she would be located, so there’s obviously got to be a location, right?” he said. “Obviously I’m not talking about an empty spot, right? But I think that’s about … even that may be getting close to the gray area.”
In 2019, Brodsky’s law license was suspended for two years.
Brodsky still hasn’t applied for reinstatement.
“I’m not interested in rejoining an organization run by crooks,” he said.
Brodsky said he is now trying to get on the ballot for alderman in the 44th Ward, where longtime Ald. Tom Tunney is retiring.
