CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- There was a deadly crash on I-57 late Tuesday night, and state police said a driver has been charged with DUI.
State police said a car was stranded in the right lane of southbound I-57 at 171st Street around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday night when it was hit by another car.
Police said a male passenger in the stranded car was killed. Officials identified him as 23-year-old Roosevelt Logan of Chicago's South Side. A woman passenger was critically injured.
State police said the driver of the stranded car has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs. The driver of the second vehicle was taken to a hospital and later released.
Meanwhile, two IDOT workers were injured when a car hit their vehicle as they were shutting down the expressway so police could investigate the first crash.
One of the workers was taken to a hospital. The other refused treatment.
