CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Three people, including a Chicago police officer and a 12-year-old boy, were hospitalized after an early Sunday morning crash on the city’s Southwest Side.
Chicago police said it was an oncoming crash. A woman who was driving near 47th Street and Damen Avenue in Back of the Yards hit a squad car at about 3:30 a.m.
The crash sent the officer to the hospital with a broken hip, and the crash left the police SUV a mangled mess.
Police said they arrested the 33-year-old driver, who was also taken to the hospital. She had a broken wrist, and the boy was taken for observation.
Charges are expected against the woman.
