ELMHURST, Ill. (WBBM Newsradio) – Elmhurst police have released new surveillance images of a man they are trying to identify in connection with the sexual battery of a woman who was running on the Illinois Prairie Path last week.
The attack was reported between 8:45 and 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, on the path between York Street and the Pioneer Park area, according to the Elmhurst Police Department.
Police said detectives canvassing the area determined the suspect had visited a business before the attack. Investigators obtained security images from the business that provide a clearer view of the man.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his late 20s or early 30s. Police said he was wearing a red Aeropostale “NY 87” Statue of Liberty graphic T-shirt, light-colored cargo shorts, green Crocs and a black Chicago Bulls cap.
Investigators said the man left the area on a black Segway electric scooter with its headlight on. He was last seen traveling west on Vallette Street from York Street.
Police are asking anyone who sees the suspect to call 911.
Anyone who can help identify him is asked to contact the Elmhurst Police Department at 630-530-3050 or detectives@elmhurst.org.
