EVANSTON (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -More than a dozen people are waking up in a different location after a fire in an Evanston apartment building last night.

By the time crews arrived at the high-rise building on Noyes Street, residents were already evacuating. It was about 10:40 p.m. Sunday night, and the Evanston Fire Department said a fire that started in a second-floor apartment had been put out by sprinklers.

That kept it from spreading and limited injuries to one person who was in the unit where it began. They were taken to the hospital. Their condition is not yet known.

The fire department said the sprinkler system caused some water damage and forced 14 people who live on the second floor of the building to be relocated.
