(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — After years of talking and planning, the Evanston City Council is expected to finally award a new skate park contract at Monday night's meeting.

The $1.76 million contract will allow Hacienda Landscaping to build the 10,000-square-foot Twiggs Park Skate Park, which will feature expansive skating surfaces and obstacles as well as other amenities.

According to the contract, the work will also include relocating an existing bike path to accommodate the skate park.

It will be located between Green Bay Road to the east, the North Shore Channel to the north, Dewey Avenue to the west, and an existing parking lot to the south.

According to a city memo, a state grant will cover $400,000 of the project cost.
