CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The family of a man who disappeared after leaving a River North bar last weekend is thanking those who helped find his body Friday night.

The family of Inaki Bascaran offered their thanks to the police detectives, volunteers, scuba divers, and friends for their efforts in retrieving his remains. They write on the website set up in his name that they are "eternally grateful for finding the 23-year-old so they can give him a proper burial."

They also wrote on the Gofundme page, "To the kindness and compassion shown to us by so many people, we can only say that you are the reason why this is a beautiful world."

Bascaran disappeared after leaving the bar Celeste last weekend. Police found his body in the Chicago River Friday. Funeral services for Bascaran will be held Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Glenview.

The Bascarans said they'll give an update on how they'll spend the remaining money from the go fund me campaign.
